Privacy Policy

Car Ji ("we", "us") runs this website, a new-car research site for India. This policy explains what information we handle when you use it, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
The short version
- You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, phone number or email to use the site.
- Your chosen city and your compare list are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
- We do not sell your information or pass it to dealers.
Information we handle
Stored in your browser
When you pick a city, we save it in your browser's local storage so on-road prices are shown for that city on your next visit. The compare list you build is saved the same way. This information stays on your device; you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Searches
When you search for a car or for a city, area or PIN code, the text you type is sent to our server to find matches. We do not link these searches to you.
Usage and technical information
Like most websites, our servers automatically record technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working, and keep them only as long as needed for that.
We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay and the device you use, so we can understand which parts of the site are useful. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Why we use it
- To show prices and information relevant to your city.
- To run, secure and fix the website.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run the site, such as hosting, content delivery and image storage providers, and Google for analytics. They process information only to provide those services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we process,
- correct, complete or update it,
- erase it, where we no longer need it or you withdraw consent,
- and you can nominate someone to exercise these rights for you.
Write to contact@carji.in. Because we do not ask who you are, we may need details from you (such as the approximate date and time of a visit) to find any information about you.
Grievances
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, write to contact@carji.in with "Grievance" in the subject. We will acknowledge it and respond as soon as we can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top when we do.
